Kieran Read could be playing rugby again soon, the Crusaders assistant coach says.
The All Blacks captain has not played for the Crusaders yet this season as he continues to recover from injuries, including back surgery at the end of 2017.
Ronan O'Gara says that they do hope to see him take part in the Super Rugby tournament soon.
However, there is no set date yet.
"I couldn't tell you when he is coming back. He's in the good hands of the medical team here who have been exceptional."
O'Gara says they had not expected him to play the first four or five games.
He does hope to see him return soon, as he is a good challenge for all involved.
"He has a brain like very few in the game, and he challenges coaches and players and he just brings the best of standards to the Crusaders, and I think that's why he has the reputation that he has."
