Shane van Gisbergen is proud to be the one to finally break the New Zealand drought of Australian Supercars champions.
Van Gisbergen placed third in the penultimate race of the season at the Sydney 500, and is enough for him to claim the crown.
He's the first New Zealander since Jim Richards to have his name on the trophy since 1991.
He says he's getting a lot of messages from New Zealand, and told Craig Lord he was very stoked.
The final race of the Sydney 500 and Supercars season is today.
