India's praising the Black Caps for another hard-fought series, having won this morning's Twenty20 decider by six runs in Kerala.
The hosts defended their total of 67 for five, in a match reduced to eight overs a side, New Zealand finishing on 61 for six.
It follows New Zealand's 2-1 ODI series defeat, losing the decider by six runs as well.
Indian coach Ravi Shastri says the Black Caps were tough.
"This was a good win, because it was against a very good side. I must say this side can go places, New Zealand played well as a unit and they competed excellently."
The Black Caps now head home to prepare for the opening test of the summer against the West Indies on the first of December.
