New Zealand motor-racing team-owner, mentor and driver Dennis Martin has been hospitalised with pneumonia.

Martin, a multiple time NZ Formula First Champion, is in a critical condition in intensive care at Palmerston North Hospital.

The owner of Sabre Motorsport is responsible for starting the careers of many of our best drivers.

Shane van Gisbergen, Nick Cassidy, Richie Stanaway, Mitch Evans, Simon Evans, Brendon Hartley and more have all come through Martin’s team in the early stages of their careers.

Martin was set to run his team in this weekend’s opening round of the Manfeild Winter Series with 2016 Scholarship winner Dylan Smith.

Fortunately with the help of his team, Sabre Motorsport will be racing this weekend.
