New Zealand's registered its third biggest medal haul at a Paralympic Games.

William Stedman has helped the Kiwi contingent in Rio eclipse its projected total, winning New Zealand's 19th medal with a bronze in the 400m T36.

It's one better than the 18 won in 1996 and 2000, while New Zealand are one away from levelling the 20 taken home in Arnhem in 1980.

The most fruitful Games was in New York in 1984 when New Zealand won 24.

There's one day of competition left.
