The culmination of a life-long dream for Kiwi Taekwondo player Andrea Kilday.

The 34-year-old mother of two has been named to the New Zealand team for the Rio Olympics in the women's 49 kilogram division.

Kilday qualified for the Beijing Games but was overlooked and says it's a relief to finally be selected.

She said it's been her dream of hers since she was nine and then when she saw Taekwondo at the 2000 Olympics she knew it was what she wanted.

Andrea Kilday became the first Kiwi Taekwondo player to win gold at the Pacific Games last year and also won the Oceania Championship title last month.
